Ross Global Academy – Founded by Courtney Sale Ross

Located in Lower Manhattan’s Tribeca, Ross Global Academy is a public Charter School founded by Courtney Sale Ross in 2006. Ross Global Academy is the result of the collaborative efforts of New York University’s Steinhardt School and East Hampton’s The Ross School.

With a curriculum based on the Ross School model, Ross Global Academy works towards providing holistic education that will help students adopt and practice a global worldview while encouraging them to think critically and creatively through achieving an understanding of different cultures. Just like the prestigious and innovative Ross School, Ross Global Academy places a great emphasis on interconnecting disciplines. The Ross Global Academy curriculum is centered on cultural history but it effectively integrates core subjects, like the arts, into classroom discussions and activities.

Housed within the New York City Department of Education building, Ross Global Academy is open to all students from diverse backgrounds and academic abilities. They even accept learning-challenged students and English language learners. Aside from intercultural understanding, their curriculum also fosters and helps students become responsible.

The Ross Global Academy teachers practice team teaching and focuses on innovative strategies that include multiple intelligences, collaborative learning, and differential instruction.

In order to effectively address the needs of every student, Ross Global Academy has small class sizes, with at least 20 to 24 students per class. It also recognizes the importance of reading and math skills.

The Ross Global Academy works on an education program that helps students prepare for college. Its wellness and media component help students adjust to the complexities of 21st century living; it prepares them for whatever possibilities lie ahead of them.

Most of all, Ross Global Academy encourages its students to explore their individual interests by taking part in various activities and projects.
