Tiger Woods’ Education Philanthropy

Celebrated golfing champion and one of United States’ most influential African-Americans, Tiger Woods, does more than hit birdies and eagles and ride golf carts all day long. Woods, who claimed fame through golf, is also a champion of philanthropy.

His philanthropic group, the Tiger Woods Foundation, primarily channels their efforts to community-based projects and programs with steady emphasis on personal development, welfare, and quality education to American children. This is a testament to Tiger’s belief that improving children’s education must be a joint effort by members of the community.

The Tiger Woods Foundation believes that education has a significant role in preparing students towards their careers in the future.

Branching out from the organization to help prepare students for a better life ahead is the Tiger Woods Learning Center, a non-profit learning institution that offers courses for students revolving around the disciplines of math, natural sciences, arts, and technology to name a few.

The Tiger Woods Learning Center aims to show students from Orange, Los Angeles, and Riverside Counties how they can choose their career path based on their personal interests and not on other people’s preferences. The students are housed in a 35,000-square foot learning facility that offers the latest in technology that is completely wireless.

The learning center offers programs designed for students from Grades 5 to 12. They handpick the students based on report cards and the students’ personal statements.

Like any career preparation and education reform initiative, this career-related program by Tiger Woods’ foundation is a massive undertaking – one that requires significant amount of money and attention from the community to succeed.

Fortunately, the Tiger Woods Learning Center is continuously showered with financial and other forms of assistance by Tiger Woods himself, the center’s corporate partners (Target Stores, Buick Motors, and The Boeing Company among others), and other key individuals who offer voluntary services.
