The Current Issues and Trends in Education
The development of several educational trends and research are expected to increase in the coming years. It seems that every government is starting to prioritize the quality of education in their respective countries. The US government for one is currently working on building new strategies to improve education in the country.
One of the rising educational trends in the country is the implementation of Standards-based education. In line with this program, the government focuses on the outcomes for student learning. Apart from that, several people are also working to provide kindergarten students with more time for in-class experiential learning by increasing the hours they spend in school. The government also works to provide more prekindergarten opportunities for every four-year old in the United States. This is known as the universal Pre-K movement.
In line the with the government’s goal to increase the quality of education within the country, the government is starting to fund a number of researches related to education. One of these researches studies the impact brought by the economy towards the child-care industry as well as its effect on the local community.
In order to help more children, the National School Readiness Indicators Initiative is also working to create a standard set of measurable indicators that would define the student’s readiness for school. Aside from that, a system that rates the quality of child care program called the Quality Rating Systems was also created. The system was intended to evaluate the child-care programs that highly depend on incentives and reimbursement rates. Another rating system called TEACH was also created to evaluate the professional development of early education and early care teachers that are dependent on education and training incentives.
In addition to those initiatives are other rating programs including the Gubernatorial Leadership for Early Care and Education, as well as the Environmental Rating scales that were used in the measuring of the quality of several early childhood programs.
