Bacardi Helps Bermuda’s Needy Students

Bacardi does not just coddle merrymakers and cocktail fans. It has a heart too, if its donations in Bermuda are anything to go by.

Ever year, Bacardi awards $30,000 in scholarships to poor but deserving students from Bermuda. Provided they have excelled in school and demonstrated leadership abilities, three Bermudians would fly abroad to study at accredited colleges and universities.

Under the Bacardi Limited Undergraduate Scholarship Award, one lucky scholar would receive $20,000 to study accounting abroad for four years. His/her scholarship would include on-the-job training at Bacardi’s global headquarters in Hamilton, the Bermudian capital. Meanwhile, the other two would receive $5,000 in Overseas Education Bursaries each, to study the same course abroad for two years.

Either way, prospective scholars must have finished one year of education at any Bermuda college. Alternatively, they could show they have finished post-secondary programs at any high school in the island nation.

All three Bacardi Scholarship Awards represent the company’s crusade to equip Bermuda accountants with world-class skills. In a nation where accountants distinctively propel the economy, Bacardi’s scholarship program stipulates awardees to return home after their studies. That way, they could give back to their nation.
