Bill Gates: Fostering Good Education
Bill Gates and his wife, Melinda Gates, have travelled all over the world to reach out and extend a helping hand to those in need. Education is one of the primary advocacies upheld by the Gates.
Their Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation aims to expand educational opportunities and access to information technology especially in the United States. Bill Gates himself admits that though he dropped out of Harvard and still found success, this does not mean that he advocates the same. He wants kids from all over America to pursue their studies and get that degree. He himself, if given the chance, would want to go back and get his own degree. Bill Gates has persistently voiced out his concern on the imbalance with regards to America’s education system. His foundation has consistently donated funds to provide libraries, scholarships and needed assistance to high schools and colleges to further strengthen their educational programs. These include Southeastern Library Network, D.C. Achiever’s Scholarships, Gates Cambridge Scholarships and the non-profit organization, Strong American Schools. They have donated millions of dollars to further the advances of their advocacies.
The man has consistently pointed out that only 30% of American students do not get to finish high school and that the deteriorating quality of education is growing worse by the day. His advocacy is to improve this by helping teachers because of his belief that having good teachers are imperative in the success of the American education. Bill and Melinda has continued to share and improve the situation in their own ways; providing a brighter future for the American student.
