Ford Motor Company Fund
The Ford Motor Company is an international corporation headquartered in the Detroit suburb of Dearborn, Michigan. The vehicle manufacturer was formed by Henry Ford and was incorporated in 1903. It owns the following brands: Ford, Mercury, Lincoln and Volvo Cars (Sweden). It also owns a stake in Aston Martin (United Kingdom) and Mazda (Japan).
The motor company’s former subsidiaries in the UK, Land Rover and Jaguar, were sold to India’s Tata Motors last March 2008. Likewise, it sold Volvo to Geely Automobile, as stated in a transaction that will be completed in the 3rd quarter of 2010.
Apart from business, Ford has its philanthropic arm, the Ford Motor Company Fund, which supports an array of arts and academic institutions. It also promotes cultural programs such as touring art shows, performing arts affairs, educational programs for elementary students and university scholarships.
Aside from the Company Fund, Ford Motor has the Ford Family Programs, which consists of various activities like art workshops, guided tours, family activity guides, artist talks, a family online site and film screenings.
At present, Ford is promoting nationwide touring exhibits for school age youngsters and their families. “Robots,” one of the exhibitions, is a combination of art, education and film that describes the importance of robots in the future.
