General Mills Box Tops for Education

General Mills Inc, listed as one of the Fortune 500 companies, focuses its efforts on food products. Currently based in Golden Valley, Minnesota, a Minneapolis suburb, it markets several well known brands, including Cheerios, Green Giant, Haagen-Dazs, Lucky Charms, Yoplait, Betty Crocker, Colombo Totinos, Wanchai Ferry, Old El Paso and Jeno’s Pillsbury.

Through the company’s Box Tops for Education program, parents clip coupons on over 180 General Mills brands and send them in to their school, which can then be converted as 10₵ per coupon.

Several parent-teacher groups conduct regular school wide box top collections, which in turn generate funds. This is the company’s biggest strategic philanthropic effort, with 95% of United States based K-8 elementary schools taking part in the program. Through Box Tops, the company has donated over $200 million to various schools across the country.

Registering at Box Tops gives parents access to a community of people who are passionate about helping improve schools in America. By joining the Box Toppers, parents can get exclusive benefits, such as the getting the opportunity to communicate with other parents on subjects that concern them and their children, as well as tools and promotions to enlist others to the program.
