KFC: Funding Hope

Aside from being a successful business franchise, KFC also continues its founders’ philanthropic advocacy, primarily that of education. KFC’s corporate philanthropy covers and focuses on a range of socially responsible programs. The corporation kicks in generous support for “education, diversity and animal welfare” programs. This has been KFC’s philanthropic focus; a commitment that continues today in order to help improve the lives of every person they can reach.

KFC Corporation’s Colonel’s Scholars Program, which aims to empower students to improve their lives with scholarship resources to attend an accredited public college within their state of residences. The scholarship program is aimed towards high school seniors who possess the entrepreneurial drive and strong perseverance who are in need financially in pursuing their college education.

It is through Colonel’s Kids, a separate charity still under KFC Corporation, that the Colonel’s Scholarships are funded. This emphasis for education is what separates KFC from other corporations in the world. Just recently, the company raised $1.5 million for college scholarships to be given to high school students who are “hungry to learn”. This is the fourth batch of Colonel’s Scholars that the company has launched.

Colonel Sanders’ simple fried chicken recipe has gone a long way from a chain of restaurants in Kentucky to global fame. But his advocacy lives on and will continue in helping those who are deserving of the Colonel’s help.
