Maximizing the Benefits of Technology in School
Having easy access to technology is considered as an important issue for students and teachers nowadays. Most schools are already equipped with computers and other technological tools that are necessary to enhance the students’ learning experience. Now that schools are starting to integrate technology into their curriculum, there are several new factors that must be considered.
In order to maximize its benefits, schools must place computers in different convenient locations within the campus. Even if the school’s computers are connected to the Internet, their availability to the students, as well as teachers, would be limited if they are not installed in the right locations. Schools must also carefully schedule the use of its computer labs in order to maximize the use of the equipment.
There are also some schools that prefer to install computers in the classroom itself. Oftentimes, these computers are dispersed through cumulative roll-out. Another practical strategy employed by schools is to have access to computers via mobile computer labs. In this particular type of strategy, computers are placed on desks with wheels allowing them to be moved around wherever they are needed. The great thing about these movable computer labs is that they provide a more workable approach.
Other schools also allocate one computer for each classroom. In order to make the most out of this one computer/classroom setting, teachers are advised to set up different workstations for students to work in. By setting up different workstations, students are able to take turns using a single station. Teachers can also use a large monitor or a projector to make the screen visible to all students.
In addition to all these, schools can also try a variety of other strategies in order to make the most out of technology. Schools must aim to teach their students how to use technology in the right way.
